Mass Audubon and Storey Publishing bring you this Nature Smarts Workbook for ages 10-12. There are also ones for ages 4-6 and 7-9. I wish there was one for older ages too!
These workbooks are beautifully made, very colourful and easy to understand and use. The activities are a mix of nature related activities on topics such as being a naturalist, plants, invertebrates, herptiles, birds and mammals. Although it is a workbook, it doesn’t suggest you just sit inside and fill out worksheets about nature. Some of the activities ask you to go outside and find nature and then document it.
You can just give this workbook to your nature loving child and let them go wild or use it in a homeschool setting for nature study. I think the activities are just right for the age group and are engaging.
