My Year of Writing contains 365 creative writing activities so you can “be creative everyday.”
The book starts with an introduction and before you get started section which includes this little quote which I love:
“Remember, it doesn’t matter if your struggle to spell or have dyslexia. This journal is not about grades or getting things perfect – it’s about your ideas, so just go with it!”
Each page is laid out with a question or prompt and space to write. There isn’t that big a space to write though so if your child is still writing big letters, you may want to wait till they are older.
I love the wide variety of prompts from the simple to the slightly more involved.
Examples:
- write some rules for people visiting your bedroom
- make up a new fruit and give it a name
- write down all of the adjectives you can think of to describe food
- look at the picture and write what happens next.
