Text Messaging

Spread the love

What is the big deal about sending text messages? I’d much rather talk on the phone, and I hate talking on the phone. Watching TV today, every other commercial had a text number for people to text something to them. Either to vote for something, or enter something or give them feedback. I’d much rather read text written in proper English on a screen bigger than a matchbox than read text like this:

“hey wuz up peeps! sumone txt me plz!”

No thanks. I like puzzles but on my own time, not when I’m trying to understand what someone is saying.

Then of course it costs money to text. To text your vote for Canadian Idol it used to cost 25 cents. Now it’s up to 50. It’s 75 cents to send a message to Much Music to be displayed on TV and it’s $1.25 to enter a contest from a commercial. Like teens (the majority of text message users) need something else to spend their money on. I just don’t get it.
