IXL Math & English Learning #CRHGG20

Spread the love

Whether your child is homeschooling, virtual learning or attending school, sometimes they need a little extra practice with math and English. IXL has a math and English section for grades K-12!

IXL has more than 4500 skills and with a membership you can use it as much as you want until your membership expires. Homeschoolers might use it as their math or language curriculum. Distance learners and school attendees might use it as extra practice for topics that their child is struggling in.

Schools can also get a membership for all their student to use if they wish. This would be perfect right now during a time when many are distance learning.

Diagnostics/Recommended Skills

If you wish your child to use the Real-Time Diagnostic area they can answer some questions and see their levels and recommended skills. This is especially helpful for school who are using the program so teachers can see how the kids are doing and what lessons the kids should work on.

When you log on, the recommendations section will give your child a suggestion of which activities to work on based on how they did last time they played. It will also suggest they try something new.

A parent is able to login under their child to see how their child is doing on different lessons including their score and which questions they got wrong. You can also see an analytics section which shows you how any questions have been answered, time spent, progress made etc. you can see which categories progress was made in as well.

You can view lessons by GRADE or TOPIC. Even under Grade it is separated by types of lessons such as English: Rhyming, Syllables, Verbs etc. or Math: Decimals, Fractions, Money etc. If you view by Topic it shows you for example, all Verbs skills but also shows by grade: JK, SK, 1, 2, etc.

In the screenshot below it shows Math by Grade (in this case Grade 1)

When I go to the site, it directs me to the Canadian version and when I go to the Curriculum section, it knows I’m in Ontario and shows me the proper version. It shows what is supposed to be learned for grades K-12 in Math and English and you can click through directly to their lessons that fit that section. When you subscribe you put in where you live so it will tell you the correct curriculum for where you live.

Where to Subscribe/Play

You can get YOUR membership at the website as a family or a school. You can buy only math or only English but the best value is to get both. The cost is a little more if you have more than one child but it’s a pretty good price, especially if you are homeschooling and planning to use it everyday for your child. You can play IXL games on the computer or on mobile.
