Snap! by Hazel Hutchins

Snap! by Hazel Hutchins is a great picture book read for kids who love colouring with crayons or who are very creative.

snap-bookThe story is about a little kid who finds that his crayons keep breaking, disappearing or getting crushed until he only has a few colours left. What can he make with only three colours?

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This post contains affiliate links.

This book is designed for Ages 4-7 which is funny because I read it with my 4 and 7 year old and they both loved it.

I tested my 7 year olds knowledge of colours to see if he could guess what would happen next. The illustrations are fun and colourful (of course) and made me remember when I was a kid and coloured with crayons all the time.

Published by Annick Press, the book is by the same author as Mattland which I reviewed on another blog which is now Nonfiction only but used to include picture books.

Below is a screenshot of one spread from the book. You can see it full size by going to the Snap book page on Annick Press and clicking Look Inside under Extras on the far right.

Besides being great for at home reading, I think the book would be good for a Kindergarten class or homeschooling before doing a lesson on colour mixing or creative colouring.
