Creative Ideas for Hot Chocolate

Spread the love

Tis the season for hot chocolate now that in many parts of the world (and definitely in Canada) it’s getting colder and colder.

Who wants boring regular hot chocolate though when you can mix it up and create something new and tasty? Why not try a new type of hot chocolate throughout the season? See if you can get through all the ideas below before winter is over.

Creative Ideas for Hot Chocolate

  • Do you have Halloween candy still hanging around? Drop a mini bar (one without nuts) in and let it melt!
  • Stir in a spoonful of chocolate-hazelnut spread.
  • Stir in a spoonful of chocolate-peanut butter spread
  • Puree a half banana for each cup and stir into the hot chocolate. Garnish with a bit of whipped cream and a banana chip.
  • Make hot toffees for the kids. Stir some butterscotch chips in to hot milk.
  • You can’t go wrong with caramel – stir in some caramel sauce
  • Mix half coffee, half hot chocolate – or whatever percentage of each you want
  • Grab a peppermint stick or candy cane and stir your hot chocolate to infuse a peppermint flavour
  • Add some coconut milk for a unique tropical+winter combination
  • Try almond milk too for a more nutty flavour
  • Stir in some marshmallow fluff for a stronger marshmallow taste
  • Stir in your favourite ice cream – so many possible choices! I suggest Rolo or Coffee Ice Cream or Vanilla
