If you have been missing the slightly older My Little Pony cartoons from the 2000s then you will be happy to hear that Shout Factory has released the first DVD in their new My Little Pony Classic movies reissue line.

Description: The “Here Comes Christmas Candy Cane” is an important part of Ponyville — it’s the beacon that shows jolly old Santa Claus the way to the town as he makes his holiday rounds each year. But when Minty accidentally breaks it, uh-oh! It looks like Ponyville is destined to have a bleak holiday season. Minty is determined to do anything to save Christmas for her Pony friends while they, in turn, band together to try and cheer up their despondent four-legged friend. Together, they all discover that Christmas can come anyway, wrapped in the love of good friends and the oversized heart of one little clumsy, minty-green Pony!

My Little Pony Classic

It was fun to get a flash back of an old My Little Pony cartoon. My 2 year old son recognized it as My Little Pony (he LOVES ponies) but was confused by Pinkie Pie. Pinkie Pie is the only pony in this video that is in the current MLP: Friendship is Magic series but she looks quite different. He refused to accept that the pink pony in A Very Minty Christmas was Pinkie Pie.

Minty’s Voice

The classic movie has lots of singing too which is what my son loves the most but Minty’s voice was a bit annoying and the song that she sang was therefore annoying. All the other songs were great though and watching the movie put me in a Christmas mood.

For My Little Pony Fans

The storyline was well thought out and I enjoyed it. I think any My Little Pony fan would. This would be a great gift for the vintage My Little Pony collector you know, or just for the kids to add to their Christmas collection.
