Legends from Mom’s Closet

Spread the love

Today is my Mom’s birthday and the perfect day to tell you about a new book written by a 10 year old girl!

Legends from Mom's Closet by Sasha Olsen

Legends From Mom’s Closet

This beautiful book has full page, full colour photos of Sasha dressed in her mom’s and grandma’s clothes, including photos of just the outfit.

Sasha is writing in her diary over a rainy summer. She is bored and while flipping through books, she learns of amazing women such as Frida Kahlo, Cleopatra, Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy, Jacqueline Kennedy, Marie Antoinette and more.

She is inspired to dress up like them and she finds some amazing items in her mom’s closet. My kids dress up in Grandma’s closet because I am the furthest thing from fashionable and own like 10 pieces of clothes total. Ha!

Sasha is beautiful and her photos look like professional shots. I was thinking the whole time that she would be a beautiful model and then I was surprised to read at the end that she tried to be a model but was turned away because she had braces. I was shocked because I hadn’t noticed the braces the whole time I read the book.

What a wonderful book to read with your daughters. It might inspire them to play make believe and/or to learn about amazing women. I could see a teacher or youth leader reading this book to their group and then having the children pick one of the women to learn more about.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Sasha Olsen is a 10-year-old author, environmental activist, ballroom dancer, bookworm, pianist, and enjoys anything artistic.
