Pantene Canada has been holding a national campaign called Pantene Beautiful Lengths to encourage Canadians to cut their ponytails to create wigs for those who have lost their hair to cancer for 6 years.
Pantene Beautiful Lengths Will Donate to Canadian Cancer Society
This year’s campaign kicked off October 19, 2013 but they are still encouraging people to make the cut! In addition to offering information on how to donate your hair, they are donating up to $50,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society in celebration of National Donate Your Hair Day. Like the Facebook Page for Pantene Canada and Pantene Beautiful Lengths will donate $1 for every new like received!

I Donate My Hair to Make Wigs for Cancer Patients
With some help, I was able to finally donate my hair. I had been wanting to for a while but didn’t really know how to go about it. I also don’t cut my hair very often as I tend to like it long so I just kept it long, maybe got a short cut everyone once in a blue moon when it got too long and that was it.
For National Donate Your Hair Day, participating salons in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver were offering free haircuts to those who were donating their hair. Since I don’t live in those cities, P&G offered me a VISA card to cover the cost of a cut and style so I could donate my hair. I wasn’t able to do so in late October but I finally got around to it!
First Choice Haircutters Will Donate Your Hair
I brought my instructions to First Choice Haircutters only to find out they cut and donate hair for people all the time! Anyone who wants to donate their hair to make wigs at any time can go to a First Choice Haircutters. As long as you meet the requirements, they will measure and cut your hair and store it. Once they have a few in storage, they have a person who comes to pick them up and donate them.
It’s An Easy Process
It was really quick, they just put my hair in two ponytails with a braid in between and snip snip! Then just even it out and I was ready to go. I could have had a fancy hairstyle but that’s just not who I am. I like a simple wash and go haircut.

You Can Participate Too
If you would like to donate your hair, you’ll have to see if your hair meets the donation requirements and then follow the instructions for making hair donations.
If you can’t donate your hair, be sure to at least like the Pantene Canada FB Page if you haven’t already so they can donate $1.
